By 11 AM voter turnout at the parliamentary elections was 12.5%, indicate data by Gallup International sociological agency from exist polls conducted in front of polling places.

Gallup International is the BNR’s partner on election day and will monitor the progress of voting and the distribution of the future seats in parliament throughout the day.

This means that voter turnout is significantly lower compared to the turnout registered at the previous parliamentary elections (by several percentage points) and the voting is taking place in a highly unpredictable atmosphere,”  Parvan Simeonov, Gallup International CEO commented for the Bulgarian National Radio. “Voter turnout may turn out to be a crucial factor and not only because of the number of voters. Fear of the virus affects the different types of electorate differently, and that means that it could impact the structure of the vote, all the more so that voter turnout is what determines the threshold.”
