People in poor regions consume the most expensive food

The price of cooking oil will rise by up to 50% compared to the previous year because of low yield of sunflower in Europe, the Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets State Commission forecasts. On the other hand, this year we buy cheaper fruit and vegetables. According to the commission, the consumer basket has become slightly cheaper.

The difference in the prices of goods in the markets and the big stores could double, the commission added. "The worst thing is that the highest prices are in the poorest cities, while in Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna they are the lowest," chairman of the commission Vladimir Ivanov said. Currently, experts do not expect sharp rises in the price of basic food products.
