Mining and energy sectors in Bulgaria are leaders in high paying salaries

The highest average gross monthly salary in Bulgaria for 2019 was in the municipality of Chelopech - 1245 euros. The municipality of Kozloduy holds second place with 1093 euros, followed by Radnevo with 935 euros, the Institute for Market Economics (IME) has reported. The capital city of Sofia holds the 5th position after the municipality of Pirdop with an average monthly salary of 898 euros.

For yet another year, the highest salaries in this country are in small municipalities with large employers in the spheres of processing and energy industries. Industrial municipalities on the periphery of the largest economic centers have also been performing well in terms of wage growth, the IME reported. In the period 2016 - 2019, salaries in different regions in the country rose by 30 to 40%.
