"On March 8 it is important to recall that women in Bulgaria have been fighting for equality for more than a century and despite the great progress achieved, full equality of sexes is still not a fact," the Bulgarian Fund for Women said on March 8. The organization quotes data according to which only 1/4 of the MPs and 16% of the managers of large companies in this country were women. Every two weeks, a woman in this country is killed by her husband, partner, relative or acquaintance, and 72 percent of women and their children live on or below the poverty line, the organisation also says.
