Three Bulgarians detained in operation against drug trafficking near South Africa

Three Bulgarians were detained on a fishing vessel off the coast of South Africa. They were charged with dealing in a large quantity of cocaine, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced. 

On March 2, the local media informed that a large consignment of cocaine worth nearly USD 40 million was seized not far from Cape Town, informed the Embassy of Bulgaria in Pretoria, the Republic of South Africa. According to media publications, four Bulgarian citizens and six suspects from Myanmar were arrested during the Police operation. The Embassy of Bulgaria in Pretoria clarified that they contacted with Interpol and learnt that three Bulgarian nationals were detained in the Police operation and that the fourth person was a Slovenian citizen.
