Medical specialists are staging the latest in a series of protests in front of the Ministry of Health building in Sofia.
Maya Ilieva, chair of the Trade Union of Bulgarian Medical Specialists stated, for the BNR, that the protesters are demanding higher pay so they are not forced to work in two or three places, and also that nurses to do not have to cater for 50 patients. In Ilieva’s words, in many places in the country nurses’ monthly salaries are under 950 Leva /486 euro/. The protesters also want a raise in the pay for overtime and night work.
