Turkey postpones court case against Bulgarian border guards

The court case against four Bulgarian border police officers, which is being tried in Turkey, has been postponed until 6 July.

The court in Kırklareli accepted the request of the defence attorney of the Bulgarian officers for the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights, which was in favour of the Bulgarian side, to be included in the case. In Bulgaria the Military Prosecutor’s Office terminated the investigation because of  lack of evidence that a crime has been committed, BNR-Burgas reports.

The Bulgarian border guards have been charged of causing the death of a Turkish fisherman by negligence, inflicting minor injury on another fisherman and property damage. The incident occurred near the Bulgarian village of Rezovo in 2008.
