Tennis: Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova to face Serena Williams in Melbourne tournament

Bulgaria's top tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova has qualified for the third round of the WTA 500 tennis tournament in Melbourne Yarra Valley Classic. Bulgaria's top athlete for 2020 defeated Croatia's ninth-seeded Donna Vekic after 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 after an hour and 51 minutes of play, BGNES reported.

American Serena Williams will be Tsvetana Pironkova's next opponent in the tournament. Williams defeated the representative of the hosts from Australia, Daria Gavrilova, with 6:1 and 6:4 and qualified for the third round. 
The 39-year-old American, who is currently 11th in the WTA rankings, has five victories in five games played against Bulgaria's Pironkova.
