Tourism organizations demand cancellation of PCR tests

In order to preserve employment in tourism, Bulgaria National Board of Tourism and the Bulgarian Tourist Chamber hope that the Bulgarian authorities would reconsider the introduction of a mandatory PCR test for EU and third-country tourists. Otherwise, the hotels are doomed to bankruptcy, reads a common position of the two organizations, sent to Bulgaria’s Minister of Tourism and this country’s Minister of Health, BTA reported.

The tourism industry complains that some holiday bookings have already been cancelled. Instead of presenting PCR tests, guests should undergo rapid antigen tests at the border checkpoints and the accommodation facilities, which would save the tourist season, representatives of the tourism sector contend.
