On January 26, Bulgaria's Ombudsman Diana Kovacheva organizes an online discussion of the Domestic Violence Protection Bill. The discussion will start at 11 am in the ZOOM platform and will be broadcast on the profile of the public defender on Facebook.
The purpose of the discussion is to hear all points of view. Among the participating lawyers will be Bulgaria's Minister of Justice Desislava Ahladova, BTA reported.
There are no official statistics on victims of domestic violence in Bulgaria.
According to data of NGOs, calls to hotlines for help to victims of domestic violence have doubled, the ombudsman said in a statement.
