The procedures for providing frequencies for fifth-generation Internet networks - 5G - are expected to be completed by the end of March. Speaking to BNR's Horizon program, the chairman of the Communications Regulation Commission, Ivan Dimitrov, said they would launch an information campaign to explain 5-G technology. An advisory council has also been set up.

In two municipalities in the country - Balchik and Mezdra, the municipal councils have blocked the construction of the 5G network with an argument that it could be harmful for the health of the population

"The need for a fast and reliable network was demonstrated during the pandemic. Internet demand will continue to grow. The fifth generation networks are also connected with the development of telemedicine", Dimitrov said.
