Central Election Commission seeks amendments to election code

“If we want there to be trust in the election process, the voting by people under quarantine by mail must be arranged by way of amendments to the election code. This can happen through an extended interpretation of the law,” Alexander Andreev, chairman of the Central Election Commission said, BTA reports.

During consultations with President Rumen Radev it was made clear that according to the practice in countries with a tradition in postal voting, a current address is needed for this kind of vote where the election papers are sent. They have to arrive in advance so as to be processed simultaneously with the returns from the polling stations. Trial voting by mail does not mean that the results will be taken into account, Alexander Andreev said.
