Citizens of the town of Isperih in northeastern Bulgaria, have started a petition in support of the director of the General Hospital in the city - Dr. Abdullah Zargar from Iran, calling for Bulgarian citizenship to be granted to him. Amendments to the Public Enterprises Act come into force in February, according to which a foreign citizen cannot manage them. However, the locals insist that Dr. Zargar remains the head of the medical institution, which under his leadership has become one of the leaders in the region. When Dr. Zargar took over the hospital, it had large debts and doctors were leaving it en masse. Today the institution has no debts and has the necessary medical staff.
Dr. Zargar graduated in medicine in Moscow. He has been in Bulgaria for 16 years with a 6-month break, during which he worked in England, BNT reported.
