Inoculation in Bulgaria continues for second consecutive day

The inoculation of medics working at the frontline against Covid-19 continues for the second day in Sofia and other Bulgarian cities. Director of Sofia's Alexandrovska Hospital Professor Boris Bogov told BNR that almost all his colleagues from the Covid-19 ward have expressed a desire to get vaccinated. Yesterday, a total of 699 people were vaccinated on the first day of the campaign, Bulgaria’s Minister of Health Professor Kostadin Angelov pointed out during his visit to a Sofia hospital today. Bulgaria’s Chief State Health Inspector Dr. Angel Kunchev told BNR that at the moment there are no data on side effects among vaccinated Bulgarians.

1,000 Bulgarians to be tested for effectiveness of Covid-19 vaccine

Some vaccinated Bulgarians will undergo tests aimed to clarify the effectiveness of the Covid-19 vaccine, this country’s Chief State Health Inspector Associate Professor Angel Kunchev announced in Plovdiv. In the beginning, the studies will cover 1,000 people who will be tested on the second and the sixth month, as well as one and two years after the inoculation, Angel Kunchev said, quoted by BTV. Earlier today, during a visit to a Sofia hospital, this country's Premier Boyko Borissov said that Bulgaria would receive different types of vaccines and GPs would be able to recommend different vaccines to their patients. Boyko Borissov noted that an increase in the number Covid-19 recoveries and a decrease in Covid-19 deaths has been registered in recent days which eased the pressure on Bulgaria’s health system.

Bulgaria reports 332 new cases of Covid-19 out of 2,810 tests performed

332 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Bulgaria in the past 24 hours. The highest number of coronavirus infections were registered in Sofia-109, followed by Plovdiv-27 and Pleven-23, data of the Single Coronavirus Portal at midnight show. 11.81% of all 2,810 tests performed returned positive. 1,906 PCR tests and 904 antigen tests have been performed in the past 24 hours. 41 patients have died in the past 24 hours. 5,571 patients are in hospitals, including 523 in intensive care units. 1,266 people have recovered in the past 24 hours. There are 79,544 active cases of Covid-19 at present.

Ski season in Borovets winter resort begins

The ski season in Borovets winter resort in Rila Mountain has started. Anti-epidemic measures will be in place on the ski slopes. People will be required to keep physical distance and wear masks covering their mouth and nose both indoors and outdoors, BNR reporter Dobromir Tsvetkov informed. Bulgaria’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Tourism Mariana Nikolova attended the official opening of the ski season in Borovets.
