Heating and electricity prices are illegal, court rules

Heat and electricity prices are illegal, it has become clear after a decision of the Supreme Administrative Court. It followed the signal of the Supreme Administrative Prosecutor's Office against the decision of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission from 7.04.2017, which changed the price ceiling of heat and preferential electricity prices. With it, the prices of heat energy for the country have increased by over 25% on average.

The court's arguments are that the EWRC did not have the competence to issue such a decision. In addition, it was established that at that time new natural gas prices had not yet been approved, which was quoted by the EWRC as a reason for the rise in the prices in question. The court's decision is final, the prosecutor's office reported.
