Independent MPs who left the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party demanded that this country’s President convenes the Consultative Council on National Security to discuss the date of the forthcoming Parliamentary elections.

Parliamentary and non-parliamentary parties must guarantee the constitutional right to vote, which is threatened in a pandemic, MP Krassimir Yankov said at a press conference.

"The elections are preceded by other mass events that are in complete conflict with the anti-epidemic measures. Therefore, the date of the Parliamentary elections cannot be set without taking into account the obstacles to mass participation of Bulgarian voters at these elections", MP Yankov went on to say, BTA reported.
