Young Bulgarian violinist Lora Markova has won the first prize in the third category (13-17 years) at the 4th edition of Leonid Kogan International Competition for Young Violinists in Brussels, Belgium. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year's edition was held online with videos, as the competitors were divided by age into four categories.
In addition to the first prize for the Bulgarian competitor, the jury with President Karen Harutyunyan - a student of the great violinist Leonid Kogan - awarded two second prizes and presented eight more certificates to finalists in this category, one of which is for another Bulgarian participant - Yassen Stamenov.
Lora Markova is a student at the Lyubomir Pipkov National Music School in Sofia, in the class of Blagorodna Taneva. Her collection of distinctions already includes many awards from competitions at home and abroad. In 2019 she received the special prize "Olga Kamburova" in support of young talents nominated by the team of the classical music show "Allegro Vivace" of the Bulgarian National Radio.
