Sofia experiences shortage of emergency medicine doctors

Between 15 and 20 emergency medical aid teams are working in Bulgaria’s capital on a daily basis, which is not enough at all, spokesperson of the Center for Emergency Medical Aid Katya Sungarska commented for BNR. In her words, all doctors work extra hours, because Sofia needs at least 80 emergency medical aid teams. Five doctors from the Center for Emergency Medical Aid have been diagnosed with Covid-19 in the past 24 hours only. Moreover, due to the deficit of Covid-19 beds in Bulgaria’s capital, ambulances often travel long distances from one hospital to another until they find a spare bed for Covid-19 patients.
