Bulgaria notifies EU that it will abolish "golden passports" for foreigners

The Minister of Justice Desislava Ahladova has informed the European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders that Bulgaria has taken legislative actions to abolish the regime for obtaining Bulgarian citizenship in exchange for investments, BTA reported. The necessary changes in the Law on Bulgarian Citizenship have been submitted to the Parliament, Ahladova announced.

The Minister of Justice met with the Ambassador of Denmark in Sofia Soren Jacobsen. The two discussed judicial reform in Bulgaria. Speaking about the report of the European Commission on the rule of law in Bulgaria, Ambassador Jacobsen said that the country has been developing in the right direction and has made great progress, the Bulgarian Ministry announced.
