IMF head: Bulgaria is not threatened by debt crisis

Bulgaria is not at risk of a debt crisis as a result of its consistent, conservative policy, said Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, in response to a question from Bloomberg TV Bulgaria during a press conference for Bulgarian media.

The IMF head pointed out that Bulgaria was going through the crisis less heavily than many other countries. According to her, it is important for the country to have serious, stable and interesting plans on how to use European resources in order to have a more competitive and dynamic economy.
Georgieva pointed out that the IMF expected an unprecedented negative growth of the global economy of 4.4% in 2020.
