“For us the report that is relevant is that of the European Commission – it is critical and objective,” MEP Andrey Kovatchev said for the BNR, commenting on the European Parliament resolution on rule of law in Bulgaria.

He compared the resolution to a Christmas tree with “all sorts of things on it.” In his words the elements which coincide with the European Commission report are politically adorned with negative sentences.

“The EU’s control bodies are OLAF and the European Court of Auditors and in their latest reports they say that European funding irregularities in Bulgaria are under 1%,” Andrey Kovatchev said.
