Photo: BGNES

There is a place located at the foot of Rila Mountain not far from the town of Samokov where one can enjoy crystal clear air, silence and nature, untouched by civilization.

For the purpose, a nice eco trail was built in the region. It starts from the village of Beli Iskar and follows the stream of Beli Iskar River which shapes a picturesque valley. Here, the mountain reveals some of its most attractive corners. While walking along the route you will enjoy some breathtaking views. The eco trail meanders among meadows dotted with flowers, through shady trees and climbs stone steps to cross a carpet of pine needles. There are many places for rest and several wooden bridges along the trail. There is also a panoramic platform where tourists can watch the tributaries of Iskar River and the opposite high mounts covered with scary stone screes.

People can read details about the locality on special information boards. The eco trail is 8 kilometers long. Its highest point rises 1,528 meters above sea level. Tourists are advised to visit the place between June and October. The popular winter resort Borovets is not far from the eco trail. You can read more details in Radio Bulgaria’s publication: Hiking in the Valley of Beli Iskar River
