New European rule of law mechanism

"The report on the common mechanism on democracy, the rule of law and fundamental rights will not be announced today, but probably on September 30," Ilhan Kyuchyuk, an MEP of the Renew Europe group, has told BNR.

He added that another important document was expected today - the European Commission's proposal to amend the Dublin Agreement on the new migration policy. "The annual monitoring report will be separate for each country and it will take into account the positive and negative trends," the MEP added.

According to him, in this way the European Union goes towards a different way of making decisions, because unanimity did not allow for a step forward to be made as each country could block a decision.
