"Schools should not be restricted because of Covid-19," Assoc. Prof. Andrey Chorbanov, head of the Immunology Department at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, has told Nova TV.

According to him, only sick children should be quarantined, but not whole classes. The expert also believes that group immunity can effectively prevent the spread of coronavirus. "Otherwise, as long as there are young people who spread the virus without getting sick, there would be a risk," he added.

The immunologist also said that in recent months, young people should have been in intensive contact while risk groups should have remained isolated. "It is pointless for children to wear masks in schools," Assoc. Prof. Andrey Chorbanov added, explaining that after classes students communicate with each other without protective masks.
