A team of American scientists, led by Bulgarian Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov of the University of Pittsburgh, is working on a promising therapy against Covdi-19. It is based on the isolation of antibodies that block the virus.

In a special interview for the Bulgarian National Radio, Prof. Dimitrov explained the principle of action of the therapy: “Our antibody binds to the virus very strongly and prevents the virus from entering the cells. When there is an antibody present, either before infection or after infection, it binds to the virus and it can no longer continue to infect cells. This means it can be used both to prevent infection and to treat already infected people.
