A possible escalation of tension between Athens and Ankara in the Aegean Sea would affect Bulgaria first, this country’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov told the National Assembly Commission on Defense.

Bulgaria has not undertaken any military measures. Knowing the history of the Balkan region, I am confident that tension may escalate even further if Bulgaria shows higher activity in one direction or another, Minister Krasimir Karakachanov siad further.

Bulgaria believes that the controversial issues between our neighbors should be solved via negotiations and dialogue, not through military power or threats, Deputy Premier Karakachanov added.
