A total of 382 Bulgarian weekend schools located on four continents have opened their doors today for the start of the new school year, Natalia Mihalevska, head of the Directorate "Education of Bulgarians Abroad and School Network" at Bulgaria's Ministry of Education and Science, told BNR. Some 40, 000 children are educated in them, as 4,000 teachers of Bulgarian language, history, geography and folklore take care of their training.

The school year begins differently for students - for example, in the United States they will study remotely. According to the expert, face-to-face training is a priority, but Bulgarian schools will still have to follow the instructions of local authorities and switch between different forms of training when necessary.
If there is no such Bulgarian school in any country, children will be able to enroll for distance learning in another country, Natalia Mihalevska explained.
Bulgaria's Ministry of Education and Science is ready to provide additional funds in case the number of teachers increases due to distance learning.
