The town of Saedinenie (Central South Bulgaria) has cancelled the September 6 celebrations on occasion of the Unification of Bulgaria for the first time because of the coronavirus pandemic. The historic proclamation of the Unification of Bulgaria was made after a march by a handful of Bulgarians from the town of Saedinenie to the town of Plovdiv (former capital of Eastern Rumelia).

"The event, which is of great significance for all residents of Saedinenie (formerly Golyamo Konare), will not be celebrated in a due manner this year", the mayor of the small Bulgarian town Atanas Balkanski pointed out in his speech on occasion of the forthcoming holiday.

Four people dressed as revolutionaries solemnly hoisted the flags in the town center in the presence of municipal councilors only.
