Democracy in Bulgaria is in focus of Brussels discussions

The situation in Bulgaria will be discussed at a closed meeting of the Group on Fundamental Rights and the Rule of Law at the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, BTA has reported.

The meeting will be attended by Deputy Chief Prosecutor Krassimira Filipova, Deputy Prime Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva, Deputy Minister of Justice Desislava Ahladova, representatives of the Venice Commission, the Group of States against Corruption at the Council of Europe, as well as representatives of the civic society.

The monitoring group examines cases of threats to democracy, the rule of law and fundamental rights, as well as the fight against corruption in the EU. No details have been given on the content of the debates.
