Machines must be used at the next elections, Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev has told BNT. There is a consensus in society that machines will help for the process being more fair. The machines must be purchased by the Central Election Commission - CEC, because if the government provided them, there would be speculations that the government controlled the election process.
Minister Donchev commented that CEC chairwoman Stefka Stoeva had resigned because of ambiguities in the Election Code. In its current form, it does not allow adequate organization of elections and does not regulate what kind of election machines to be used and how to acquire them.
