Bulgaria marks 125 years of organized tourist movement

On August 27, 1895, the first club of Bulgarian tourists was established on Cherni Vrah Peak on Vitosha Mountain close to Sofia. The initiative was of  Bulgarian writer and public figure Aleko Konstantinov, the website bgtourism.bg reports.

The holiday is traditionally celebrated on the last Sunday in August. On August 30, tourists will start on a mountain hike from three different places in Vitosha Mountain and will meet at Cherni Vrah peak. 

A mountain running race will take place from the National Palace of Culture in the centre of Sofia to Cherni Vrah peak, starting at 9 a.m.
