In an address to the Bulgarian nation President Rumen Radev called Premier Borissov’s intention to convene a Grand National Assembly and initiate amendments to the basic law “a disregard for the Constitution”. The President and at least half of the Bulgarian MPs have the right to convene Grand National Assembly, Bulgaria’s head of state pointed out. “Can the party that methodically tramples on the separation of powers initiate amendments to the Constitution? My answer is no!”, Prsident Radev pointed out and added:- “A party which boycotted Parliamentary control yesterday cannot propose amendments to the Constitution today”. In President Radev’s words, “a government which violates the law and does not introduce machine voting cannot organize fair elections”. “The mafia cannot reform the judiciary”, President Radev said on occasion of Boyko Borissov’s promises to initiate reforms in the judicial system.
