Sofia police: The barricades will be removed

“The Sofia Metropolitan Directorate of Interior (SMDI) will restore the normal rhythm of the city and the barricades will be removed,” said SMDI director, Chief Commissioner Georgi Hadzhiev at the second Sofia police briefing for the day.  

In a raid the previous night, the police tore down the tent camps of the protesters against the government and the prosecutor general, but last night the barricades were put up again.

Chief Commissioner Hadzhiev pointed out that the responsibility shall be borne by the lawbreakers.

“For the people in uniform this is not a war but it is for the protesters,” he said. In his words the SMDI will not allow the people from the tents to spill blood at the protests.

“An unsuccessful attempt was made last night to spill blood in the centre of the city and to shatter civil peace,” Chief Commissioner Hadzhiev said.
