Germany to test Bulgarians coming from three regions for coronavirus
As of today Germany is declaring three regions in Bulgaria to be coronavirus high-risk regions – Varna, Blagoevgrad and Dobrich, the foreign ministry has announced. All people arriving in Germany from these regions will be tested, and until the test result is ready, they will be subject to mandatory 14-day quarantine. The test must be performed up to 72 hours after entry into the country, or it can be performed in Bulgaria, but no later than two days before crossing of the border into Germany. The German authorities may demand a second test. The fine for violations is 25,000 euro.
Recoveries outnumber newly confirmed Covid-19 cases in Bulgaria
195 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in Bulgaria over the past 24 hours out of 5,837 PCR tests, or 3.3% of all tests performed, show data of the single information portal.
The biggest number of cases is in Sofia city – 53, Varna – 27 andBlagoevgrad– 23.
7 people have died, 248 have recovered, and there are 55 coronavirus patients in ICU. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country since the start of the epidemic is 13,209, of them 5,145 are active.
Heavy traffic at Kulata border check point with Greece
Traffic is heavy at the borders with Greece, Serbia and Romania, the Border police press service reports.
At the Bulgaria-Greece border Kapitan Petko Voivoda and Kulata border checkpoints have reopened to trucks in both directions. From 11 PM until 7 AM traffic is not allowed across Makaza and Kapitan Petko Voivoda check points with Greece, whatever the nationality of the drivers. It is not clear how long the restrictive measures will be in place.
Tourists can enter Greece across only one border crossing – Kulata – provided they have a negative PCR test result and a QR code, entry into Bulgaria is across Kulata and Makaza.
Health Minister: There are enough hospital beds for Covid-19 patients in Sofia district
“A coordinator will refer patients with coronavirus from the hospitals in Sofia district to hospitals in Sofia,” said Health Minister Kostadin Angelov at a meeting with the directors of the hospitals in Samokov, Etropole, Svoge, Botevgrad and Pirdop.
At the moment there is a sufficient number of hospital beds for patients with coronavirus in Sofia district, he added. A coordination centre will start functioning at the hospital for infectious diseases by the end of the month, where emergency teams will transport all patients with coronavirus, or suspected of having Covid-19.
