"The best option for the country is to solve the political crisis as soon as possible, and this can happen via early elections," said sociologist Tsvetozar Tomov on the BNR's Sunday 150 show. According to him, early elections could take place in about two and a half months with a clear agreement between the political forces to quickly form a caretaker government.

"In the current context of an acute political crisis, the chances of a government controlling the health crisis surrounding the epidemic, which is expected in the autumn, are slim," he added.
Analyst Yuliy Pavlov, in turn, said it was unclear what required early elections just a few months before the regular elections. "Early elections under street pressure are not a good sign. There must be a good reason," he said. He said the recent change of cabinet ministers was "an awkward attempt to ease tensions".
