The border police officers, for whom the Turkish criminal court is demanding an Interpol red notice for terrorism, have called on the state for help.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Justice announced it would not hand them over to the Turkish authorities. The four former border guards face charges for the death of a Turkish poacher, who, on 17 April, 2008, breached the sea border of Bulgaria to fish, illegally, in Bulgarian waters.
