Sofia will receive EUR 3,712,553 to develop a system for cleaner public transport. This is the so-called “On-demand Green Transport ” which will be implemented for the first time in the EU. It envisages that electric buses will be running along separate green corridors and on routes according to passenger demand. Data of the most useful route will be collected via a mobile application which will allow the public transport to serve as many people as possible. The aim is to achieve a fairer form of charging as well. As a result, people will use their personal cars less and traffic congestion will be reduced.
