Many people are choosing rural tourism for their summer vacation in an attempt to find less dangerous summer holiday destination due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Tourism demand is expected to increase by 30%, the Chairman of the Association of Bulgarian Villages Borislav Borisov told the Bulgarian National Radio. Tourists are looking for closed-type facilities, tourist sites and facilities in the villages which allow accommodation of no more than two to three families.
People in active age, families with children and middle-class citizens have been choosing rural tourism in the recent years. This is an active form of tourism for people who value contact with nature and privacy, Borislav Borisov added. The number of foreign tourists choosing rural tourism is very low, which is mainly due to the lack of advertising.
