Bulgaria’s accession to ERM II to increase banks’ transparency

Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov held a phone conversation with the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for a Europe Fit for the Digital Age and Competition Margrethe Vestager. Premier Borissov and Commissioner Vestager discussed Bulgaria’s progress on its path to the Eurozone and its accession to the ERM II mechanism. Boyko Borissov voiced confidence that Bulgaria’s accession to the Eurozone waiting room would influence positively the economic environment in this country and the common banking control will further guarantee the transparency of the Bulgarian banks. The prudent fiscal policy is one of the achievements the country can be proud of. Financial stability and discipline are among the main factors that helped Bulgaria face the Covid-19 crisis in a good condition, Premier Borissov underlined.
