The Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Georgi Popov, has told the BNT that treatment with blood plasma is applied before the severe phase of the disease has occurred.

According to him, most recovered Covid-19 patients want to become donors of plasma. The presence of antibodies is monitored on certain days of treatment and recovery, as changes are observed among some of the recovered patients.

The virus does a lot of damage and we should not be calm, the specialist said, adding that at this stage Bulgaria was still far away from group immunity.
