Bulgarian nurses join the marking of the International Nurses Day on May 12. The World Health Organization has designated 2020 as the World Year of the Nurse and the Midwife, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale.
The head of Bulgaria's National Coronavirus Headquarters, Gen. Ventsislav Mutafchiyski, greeted Bulgarian nurses on their professional holiday.
"Your activity is no less important than the doctor's. You prove it in the current emergency situation", he stated. "Courage, knowledge, skills and big hearts are needed to alleviate suffering and inspire hope where despair and fear have settled. Colleagues, thank you for your efforts, for the high professionalism and dedication with which you care for our patients. I am glad to work with you. Be healthy", Prof. Mutafchiyski said.
