Bulgarian carriers temporarily exempt from some EC requirements

The European Commission has announced that Bulgaria will be temporarily exempt from part of the restrictions imposed on the operation of carriers. The decision is in response to Bulgaria's request to be given more flexibility in terms of driving time, rest periods and breaks for drivers to ensure the supply of goods in the country in the face of an epidemic.

With its decision, the European Commission temporarily allows truck drivers to work 11 hours a day. The maximum driving time is increased to five and a half hours, after which a rest period of 45 minutes is required. The usual weekly rest period is also allowed to be used by the driver in the vehicle when it has adequate sleeping conditions.
