In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, Bulgarians have become target of a new kind of telephone scam through calls from abroad. Unknown persons make calls from non-EU countries, where tariffs are very high, with the expectation that the caller will return the call and thus accumulate a high bill. The Ministry warns that people should not return calls to unfamiliar telephone numbers, especially if they start with code 00 223 corresponding to the African country of Mali.
