The European Green deal is a challenge for Bulgaria, this country’s Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova said in an interview for BTV. The coal-fired thermal power plants produce 48% of the total electricity in Bulgaria and in the winter period the electricity produced in thermal power stations even reached 60% of the total energy mix, Minister Petkova pointed out. Bulgaria cannot close nearly 4,000 megawatts out of hand, Minister Temenuzhka Petkova added.
