The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Defense Minister Krassimir Karakachanov has authorized a Russian aircraft transporting the most modern Russian anti-aircraft missile systems to Serbia to fly over the territory of Bulgaria.

Following the Minister's permission and in agreement with the Ministry of Transport, in accordance with current regulations, a positive answer has been given for flights by Russian aircraft carrying the Pantsir 1 missile system to Serbia, the Ministry reported. According to Russian media, deliveries of the Pantsir complex are to be made by the end of February.

At the end of November 2019, Russian planes transporting S-400 and Pantsir Systems flew over Bulgaria on way to Serbia for a Serbian-Russian military exercise, which was also observed by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
