Plovdiv hands over title of European Capital of Culture to Rijeka and Galway

Today, Plovdiv (Bulgaria) and Matera (Italy) will hand over the title European Capital of Culture to Rijeka (Croatia) and Galway (Ireland). Children from Plovdiv who are laureates of musical competitions will join the official ceremony in “the City of Seven Hills”.

Last year 800 cultural events were held in the European Capital of Culture-Plovdiv. The city that welcomed nearly 2 million visitors from Bulgaria and abroad showed that its theatre, opera and fine arts are on a world level.
