Construction of a Bulgarian Orthodox church to start soon in Bucharest

Metropolitan of Ruse, Naum

A Bulgarian church bearing the name of Saint John of Rila (Sveti Yoan Rilski) will be erected in the Romanian capital Bucharest. The construction plot covering more than 0.2 ha in the central part of the city has already been determined. A fundraising campaign will soon be launched for its construction. Part of the funding will be provided by the Bulgarian state, the rest will be raised via donations from companies and individuals. This was explained by the Metropolitan of Ruse, Naum, who has been authorized by his Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte to conduct the negotiations with the Romanian side.

The Bulgarian Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah (Sveti Iliya) in Bucharest was seized in 2009 by the Romanian authorities.
