President Rumen Radev launches consultations on the need for constitutional changes. The first meeting is with the Legal Council of the Head of State and with representatives of the academic community, followed by a meeting with representatives of non-governmental organizations and professional organisations of magistrates.

The President has announced that he started a debate on the need to amend the Constitution three weeks ago after signing the decree appointing Ivan Geshev as prosecutor general and explained that the accountability of the prosecutor general in Bulgaria ended after his election.

"Did the project enshrined in the Constitution to build a democratic, social state ruled by law suceed? Are there sufficient safeguards in the Constitution against violating separation of powers and against authoritarian arbitrariness? Do we have a systematic problem caused by sharp deficit of justice in our society? " These are the questions President Radev has been seeking answers to.
