President Rumen Radev: NATO is divided into manufacturers and customers

Photo: BTA

NATO countries are divided into manufacturers and customers. If a country had a strong, high-tech economy, producing military equipment for itself and for export and if investments went for modernisation, there would be no pressure on its  social system. But in a case of a weaker economy, not producing these weapons, 100% of the costs a country makes goes to rich countries.

This is a problem for us because it puts pressure on our social systems, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said after the NATO summit in London. This is what has been widening technological and economic gaps in the Alliance, President Radev added during a working lunch with U.S. President Donald Trump and leaders of other NATO members that have annual military spending above 2% of their GDP.
