Beekeeping is the sector with highest relative share in organic production in Bulgaria, this country’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Desislava Taneva said at a conference in Brussels themed “Challenges for Beekeeping in the EU-Long-Term Solutions”. Most of the honey produced in Bulgaria is exported, Minister Taneva added. In 2019 a total of 6,870 beekeepers are registered in Bulgaria. The number of registered bee families amounts to 738,000. In the first 9 months of 2019 nearly 10 719 tons of honey were exported.
